Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has decided to cease the basic services of United Telecom Limited (UTL).NTA has been warning UTL regarding their due royalty from very past . Now it has cross Rs 950 million which is very huge amount.Though, the limited mobility and internet services will be remained in operation as it has separate licenses but NTA decided to close the basic telecom services including international, STD and local calls and lease line services of UTL as it turned a deaf ear to NTA’s 35-day ultimatum to clear up its dues worth Rs. 952.16 million, said NTA.However, UTL has been refusing to pay the dues citing its losses. UTL has also blamed NTA for its inefficiency which has delayed its services and interference in the networks which has affected its income.UTL has also knocked the door of the Appellate Committee under MoIC pleading the cancellation of NTA’s decision of scrapping license on March 24. However, UTL’s plea went in vain as the Appellate Committee also decided in favour of NTA and directed UTL to clear up the dues.
