My favorite E-mail Client was Microsoft Outlook, which I had been using from past 1 years. I love the look ,function and every part of Microsoft Outlook.Unfortunately,I have to quit Microsoft Outlook as I am planning to move in Linux(Ubuntu). In Ubuntu Microsoft Outlook is not supported so I have to move into another software. I choose Mozilla Thunderbird alternative to Outlook though Evolution was there in my machine. Microsoft Outlook file extension is .PST which is not supported by Thunderbird. But I need my all messages anyhow in Thunderbird running under Ubuntu. I followed through many tutorials but only few worked for me. Steps give in Lifehacker is now worthless because that extension is no more supported by Mozilla Thunderbird 3.

These are the steps I followed for successfully importing mails from Outlook to Thunderbird.

1.Install Thunderbird.

apt-get install thunderbird

2. Install Readpst for converting pst to mbox.outlook-to-thunderbird-ubuntu

apt-get install readpst

3. Convert Pst to Mbox using below command.

readpst -r Desktop/outlook.pst

(If your Outlook.pst is on desktop otherwise give proper path.)

4.Install Import/Export thunderbird addons

Click Here to download addons. or go through site.

5. Import converted Message.

Go to Tool>Import/ExportTools>Import Mbox File.

Now You Have successfully Imported Outlook messages to Mozilla Thunderbird .
